iPhone + Android · testing builds

An iPhone and an Android can share the useful bits.

A shopping link, an address or a note does not need a message thread of its own. iClippy’s phone clients save a card, queue encrypted sync, and let you copy the card on the other phone. Both mobile clients currently require testing installations.

Install the testing clients

The iPhone project is installed through Xcode on a Mac. Select the personal target for a free Apple ID build; it needs renewal after seven days and does not include the Share extension. Android requires Android 13 or later and a testing APK. Official App Store and Google Play links are pending.

Use one account on both phones

Create an account on the first phone and choose a vault password. Sign in on the second using the same email and vault password. Save the recovery code from Settings somewhere private before relying on the library. If email confirmation is enabled, finish confirmation before retrying sign-in.

iPhone to Android

Copy a short test note. Hold the iClippy icon, choose Capture Clipboard, then tap Paste. With the full iPhone build you can instead use Share → iClippy. Wait for sync, open Android iClippy and pull down to refresh. Tap the card to copy it and paste into another app.

Android to iPhone

Share to iClippy, tap Paste inside it, or use the Save to iClippy Quick Settings tile. On iPhone, open iClippy, request refresh if needed and tap the received card. iClippy does not automatically paste content into the app you are using.

Background sync is best effort

Neither phone client continuously watches another app’s clipboard in the background. iOS decides when refresh can run; Android schedules battery-aware jobs. Silent push requires additional service configuration. For immediate retrieval, open the destination client.
