Android + Mac · beta workflow

From your Android phone to your Mac desk.

Keep your Galaxy or other Android phone and still bring useful text, links and images into a Mac clipboard library. Capture starts with a tap on Android. On Mac, iClippy captures while it runs and gives you a horizontal tray of cards.

Install and connect

Download the Mac beta and move it into Applications. Android currently uses a testing APK; Google Play and a release-signed public APK are pending. On your first device, create an iClippy account and a vault password. Sign in with that same account and password on the second device.

Capture from Android

The most direct route is Share → iClippy from another app. For something already copied, open iClippy and tap Paste. You can also edit your phone’s Quick Settings, add Save to iClippy, and tap that tile after copying. The tile opens iClippy before reading the clipboard. Items marked sensitive by Android are excluded from Paste capture.

Retrieve on Mac

Wait for sync to finish, or request sync from the menu. Open the tray with Command-Shift-V unless you changed the shortcut. Click a card to select it, press Command-C, switch to your document, and paste normally. Direct paste is optional in Settings and may require Accessibility permission.

Send something the other way

Copy text or an image on Mac while capture is enabled. On Android, open iClippy or pull down from the top of the history to refresh. Tap the received card to copy it, then paste into your Android app. Syncing history does not silently replace Android’s system clipboard.

Battery and offline behavior

Android background jobs are scheduled to conserve power, so sleep and system restrictions can delay delivery. Mac and Android retain local captures and retry queued sync after connectivity returns. Keep the app open during your initial setup and confirm a test note in both directions.
