Choosing a clipboard workflow

When your devices aren’t all Apple.

Apple Universal Clipboard is a convenient option for compatible Apple devices. If you use an Android phone or a Windows computer too, the question changes: you need a workflow that crosses ecosystems and tells you when a manual step is required.

An explicit shared library

iClippy keeps history cards on supported clients. Windows remains a prototype.

What Universal Clipboard covers

Apple documents Universal Clipboard for supported Apple devices signed in to the same Apple Account, with Handoff enabled and Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on. Devices need to be near each other. Follow Apple’s current requirements for your hardware and operating-system versions. Android and Windows are outside that supported device set.

What iClippy adds

iClippy offers an encrypted clipboard library with history cards, pins, categories and a device-authenticated Vault on supported clients. A Mac beta and mobile testing clients exist. Windows is still an early text prototype; it is not a released replacement for a production Windows clipboard tool.

A different interaction on phones

iClippy requires Share or Paste to capture from iPhone and Android. On the destination phone, open the library and copy a card before pasting elsewhere. Background refresh can be delayed. This is an explicit history workflow rather than a promise of seamless system-wide clipboard mirroring.

Which should you use?

If all your devices are compatible Apple devices and you need the latest copy nearby, try Apple’s built-in feature first. If you want a history library across Mac and Android or between the phone testing clients, inspect iClippy’s availability and setup guides. If Windows is essential today, wait for iClippy’s Windows release validation or use an alternative with a tested release.

Pricing without a surprise

iClippy Free currently includes 200 MB of encrypted sync storage and no enforced two-device limit. The live Pro web checkout is $0.99 USD monthly for 5 GB. Annual billing is planned, not available. Platform installation routes and feature limits still apply to either plan.
